Provision of Aid
The amount of food produced throughout the world is enough to feed everyone, but the availability of food varies between populations. Some countries do not produce enough to feed their population adequetely, resulting in chronic food shortages. Well-managed food aid clearly benefits people and communities suffering from a shortage of food. This can occur from natural disasters, envronmental problems and conflict. Food aid comes in many differents forms but mostly is either shipped from one country to another or paid for by a donor and purchased locally.
Food aid is often facilitated throug international bodies, such as WFP (World Food Program). WFP are the world's principal multilateral channel for food aid. There are also other programs that are non-governmental such as Oxfam. Oxfam gives directly to those countries and communties to whom they offer support.
